Artistic and Functional  Wood Turning

Care & Maintenance

This product is finished with Crystal Plus Food Grade Mineral Oil followed by a coat of our own blend of mineral oil and beeswax. Mineral oil is a non-drying oil, which means that it will not polymerize (form a plastic-like substance) over time. This is good for oiling wood surfaces that are in contact with water because it will stay a bit liquid in the wood and flow into cracks and scratches. It is also food-safe and won't go rancid or support microorganisms. Mineral oil is inexpensive and available at a wide variety of stores. Periodic reapplication of the oil after cleaning the board will return it to like new condition. Use mild soap during cleaning and it should not be submerged in water.

Special Instructions for Cutting Boards or Bread Boards

Caring for Your New Wood Purchase

The functionality of our products provide both beauty and versatility to your kitchen needs. Wooden bowls, cutting boards and utensils are a great addition to a home and can certainly be passed down from generation to generation with proper maintenance and care, which is minimal.

Cleaning Instructions: After use you will need to hand wash with warm water and a mild detergent or non-abrasive cleanser, rinse, hand dry and allow to completely air dry. Occasionally, cut a lemon in half and scrub with some sea salt on the surface for extra freshness.

Long Term Maintenance: Avoid letting your wooden ware dry out by oiling it with mineral oil. This action will preserve your wooden ware from both splitting and cracking. Mineral oil is perfect for many types of wood, such as Walnut, Cherry, Ash, Beech and Bamboo, to name a few. Applying mineral oil, which is also hypoallergenic, seals and protects from bacteria infiltration. Other finishes, such as lacquer and polyurethane may be treated with high quality wax or polish.
